River Valley Community Grains

Blairstown, NJ · Warren County

A Blairstown grain hub and stone mill working with local farmers to grow regenerative, chemical-free heritage grains and mill them into New Jersey flour and oats.

River Valley Community Grains is bringing heritage grains back to New Jersey. Founded in 2016 by childhood friends Larry Mahmarian, Len Bussanich and Mike Hozer, out of the Restoring the Musconetcong River Valley project, RVCG helps local farmers move from chemical feed corn and soy to regenerative, chemical-free grain, providing seed, guidance and tools, then cleaning, storing, testing and milling the harvest.

At their mill in an old tractor repair building in Blairstown, a four-foot granite stone mill turns local wheat into flour several days a week. Their flour and rolled oats go into local bakeries, pizzerias, granola makers and breweries, and are sold at farmers markets and natural grocers across the state.
